Every year, funding is provided by the DTE Energy Foundation and the organization ReLeaf Michigan helps with support to get more trees planted in communities all across the state. The project’s goal is to increase the number of properly planted and maintained trees within DTE’s service area. Eligible to apply for grants are nonprofit organizations, schools, or local government entities. Applications are due in August to the Michigan DNR who serve as administrators for the program. If chosen, grants will be awarded in October with projects having to be completed before next September. Grant requests may be up to $4,000 each with $100,000 being available in total this year.
