South side Port Huron residents are finally getting another healthier foods option in the neighborhood. Dollar General announced yesterday it’s going to start selling fresh fruits and vegetables at it’s store on Military Street starting in July. The company says it’ll offer the top 20 produce items that are sold at your typical grocery store. Including apples, potatoes, strawberries, salad mixes and the like. This provides area residents with the kind of local, convenient place to buy fresh produce that hasn’t been around since the loss of River District Market back in 2013. Dollar General hopes to expand produce sections to over 10,000 of its stores in the coming years.
