Council to take next steps for South Park authority

Port Huron City council meets tonight in the final regular session meeting of the current fiscal year. Council members are expected to set a public hearing date of July 25th to receive comments on a proposed neighborhood improvement authority for the south side of Port Huron. The boundaries of the proposed authority will consist of an area south of Vandenberg, east of 32nd Street, north of Ravenswood, and west of the St. Clair River. The authority would capture tax growth and reinvest it into the neighborhood for things such as infrastructure improvement. Bids for pavement striping and crosswalk marking are also on the city’s agenda. Port Huron City Council meets at 7 pm at the Municipal Office Center.
