A 31 year old Port Huron man is facing drug and child abuse charges following an investigation by the St. Clair Drug Task Force last week. Alex Hammond is accused of selling methamphetamine and other drugs out of his home in the 1100 block of Oak Street in Port Huron. Investigators  say a search of the residence revealed three small children not being cared for in, what were said to be, “deplorable living conditions”.  Hammond was arraigned Friday on charges of child abuse, along with three second-offense counts of drug possession, and one charge of using a computer to commit a crime. Hammond appears before a judge again on March 5th. He’s currently being detained at the St. Clair County Jail on a $25,000 bond. The St. Clair County Sheriffs Office says more charges are expected to come down soon for other arrests made during the investigation.
