Blue Water Bridge construction wraps up

Good news for drivers heading for the Blue Water Bridge this morning. After six months of maintenance, the Michigan Department of Transportation is reopening the eastbound span of the bridge today. According to MDOT officials, repairs that began in May are completed, however intermittent single-lane closures are expected to continue through the end of November as crews wrap up a few smaller tasks. MDOT is also lifting it’s ban on wide loads, and once again allowing “super loads” on an as-needed basis. Drivers should take note however, the entrance ramp leading to the toll plaza from Pine Grove Avenue will still be closed Wednesdays through Saturdays, during peak hours until the end of October.
