Another Port Huron thoroughfare may be the subject of a “road diet.” The City of Port Huron is proposing a reduction of traffic lanes along 24th Street between Dove Road and Nern Street. The roadway currently includes two lanes of vehicle traffic in each direction with a center turn lane. The city says they are looking at options to improve traffic flow, enhance pedestrian safety, and modernize infrastructure along the corridor. Those who are interested in learning more about the proposed “road diet” and would like to share their thoughts with city engineers are encouraged to attend a public meeting Thursday at 6pm at the Harvey Reinvestment Center on 24th Street in Port Huron or email communitycomments@porthuron.org.
