Sarnia Police have charged two people in connection with a violent kidnapping and robbery that happened last week on London Road.
Investigators say a 50-year-old woman was attacked at her home around 10:30 p.m. on August 18. She was reportedly assaulted by a female suspect and forced to another residence, where a male suspect was waiting.
Police say the woman was bound to a chair, repeatedly beaten, and threatened with a large edged weapon. At one point, liquid was poured on her while suspects threatened to set her on fire. Personal belongings were also taken before she was eventually let go by her assailants. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries, including bruising, swelling, and black eyes.
Following an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division, police executed a search warrant on August 23rd with assistance from the Emergency Response Team. Two suspects were taken into custody, and officers seized evidence tied to the incident as well as 41 grams of cocaine with a street value of roughly $5,000.
36-year-old Chelsea Vansickle and 51-year-old John Lacroix, both of Sarnia, are facing multiple charges including robbery, kidnapping, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, making verbal threats of death, and drug trafficking.
Both remain in custody following bail hearings.
