The 2016 Emmy Awards nominations were announced on Thursday, July 14, and the honored stars sharing their gratitude included Game of Thrones‘ Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), both first-time nominees. Anthony Anderson and Lauren Graham announced the nominations during a presentation from the Television Academy’s Saban Media Center, and GoT led the way with 23 nominations. Harington, who was finally nominated in show’s sixth season for his key role as the not-quite-dead Jon Snow, said in a statement, “It is a serious understatement to say that I am somewhat stunned. For my work […] to be recognized in this way is an emotional moment for me. I could not be more humbled.” Williams reaction was slightly more excitable on twitter: “jus on ft with me mam and twitter pops up telling me i’ve been nominated for an emmy. Wtfahhahhaahhelpme.” One of the first to congratulate the actress was co-star Lena Headly (Cersie Lannister), tweeting “ MAISIEEEEEEEEEEEE [a bunch of knuckle-touch emojis] and yes ! Just like that A girl has a name.” Overall–HBO garnered 94 nominations, the most of any network.
Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston booked out an entire theater in Gold Coast, Australia, on Thursday, July 14, so they could enjoy a private screening of Ghostbusters with Hiddleston’s pals and Avengers costars Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo. The Marvel stars are in the Land Down Under currently filming Thor: Ragnarok The Gold Class Premium Theatre provides servers, so the famous crew didn’t even have to brave the general public to enjoy their slider burgers and popcorn. On Friday, Hiddleston confirmed the fun Ghostbusters screening to Variety, and also acknowledged his Emmys nod for AMC’s The Night Manager. “It’s been a great day: I got to play on set with Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth, went to see Ghostbusters, and then I got nominated for an Emmy,” the British actor said. When also asked about the rumors that his budding relationship with T-Swift was a hoax, he responded: “The truth is that Taylor Swift and I are together, and we’re very happy. That’s the truth. It’s not a publicity stunt.” Though, this is exactly the thing someone would say if they were in a hoax relationship.
You better be a Belieber, willing to dance to “Sorry” and maybe keep your objects away from the stage. During Friday night’s concert at Boardwalk Hall Arena in Atlantic City, New Jersey, the “Beauty and a Beat” singer was speaking to the crowd when a concert attendee tried to throw something onstage. The moment caused Justin to speak out and make a request to fans. He said, “Take this moment to listen and try not to give me a hat or whatever you’re trying to throw onto the stage right now, because I probably don’t want that s–t. Sorry that was mean. But yeah, no I lost what I was going to say,” he continued. “I was deep into, like, a mode and a zone. I was—I was into it. Now I’m out of it. I’ll get it back. Just give me a second.” After sharing a few words of wisdom with the sold-out crowd, Justin continued his concert with a new song. The Purpose World Tour only has two more dates in the United States before it heads off to Japan, Iceland and other parts of the world.
