If NKU Wins Their First-Ever NCAA Tournament Game, Jeff Ruby Will Buy Every Student A Steak Dinner

The NCAA Tournament begins this afternoon! Lots of big match-ups happening in the first round. Many will be watching the (No. 7 seed) Michigan play (No. 10 seed) Oklahoma, hoping for a win in the first round.

However, restaurateur, Jeff Ruby (of Jeff Ruby’s steakhouse) will have his eyes on the (No. 2 seed) Kentucky vs (No. 15 seed) Northern Kentucky game. Why? Because he has 15,000 steak dinners on the line.

That’s right. If his “backyard school” can take out one of the biggest teams in the SEC, he

Restaurant owner, Jeff Ruby

has officially offered to buy every single Northern Kentucky University student a steak dinner at his restaurant!

NKU has been an underdog this year and has been impressing fans everywhere for the incredible climb to the NCAA tournament. This is the first year that NKU has played in Division I basketball and managed to work hard enough to squeeze into a slot for the NCAA Tournament sitting at No. 15.

“To climb into Division I and then make the tournament in their first year is unbelievable. I wanted to do something big to reward them – what’s better than offering a steak dinner to every student to celebrate a first round win?” said Ruby in a written statement.

The restauranter has already done the math! If every single student ordered the cheapest steak on the menu, the total would be $755,424. He expects to exceed one million dollars on the expenditure, but will happily do so.

He wants to show how important it is to stay involved in your hometown and show your support. Ruby recognizes that NKU is an incredible asset to the area and has watched it grow exponentially since he started his business in that area in 1981.
