Backstreet is Back: New Music & More

If you didn’t know, Backstreet Boys will be celebrating 25 years in 2018! That special silver anniversary officially makes Backstreet Boys a classic.

Why is this kind of a big deal (to fans)?

The band formed in Orlando, Florida in 1993. Boy bands were hot and in demand. The band took-off when their first album, self-titled, was released in 1996 and quickly followed that with a second international album, Backstreet’s Back in 1997. In 1999, Backstreet Boys released their most iconic album, Millennium, featuring the infamous song, “I Want it That Way.” The turn of the Century was hard for a lot of bands. New century, new sound. Bands struggled to deliver what this new generation wanted and Backstreet took a 2 year hiatus after their fourth album in 2000. What makes Backstreet so legendary is that they actually came back from boy band-death. Their comeback album, Never Gone, spawn another tour. In 2015, shortly after releasing an independent album, In a World Like This, they made their movie-debut with the documentary, Backstreet Boys: Show Em’ What You’re Made Of. Why are they still relevant? They recently began a Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood and have been showing the world that they still have those moves we fell in love with 25 years ago.

AJ, Howie, Nick, Kevin and Brian are just as excited as we are about this quarter century accomplishment that they want to celebrate! Now that they have been brought back a SECOND TIME from band-death, thanks to Sin City, they are going to make new music!

“We’re in the studio making our tenth studio album,” Kevin Richardson told Mix Lounge in an interview. “We’re trying to have a single ready by the end of the year this year, and then next year we’re actually gonna do a world tour.”
No official dates or stops have been announced, but we can expect a hefty USA and U.K. tour in our future.

The boys want their next single to be out by the end of 2017 and their album to drop in the beginning of 2018.

Enjoy this live rendition of “I Want It That Way” to get hype for new music.
