Kevin Hart, Ride Along Red Carpet Premiere, Sydney Australia

For the last couple of weeks, comedian and actor, Kevin Hart, has been on top. He has been promoting his latest book and was recently praised from raising incredible amounts of money for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. However last Saturday, he posted an off beat video to Instagram that put him in the spotlight for a bad reason. At the time the video was posted, no one was sure what was going on.

In the video he apologizes to his pregnant wife, Eniko Parrish, and his kids. Hart states that he, “made a bad error in judgement and put myself in an environment where only bad things can happen, and they did.”

“I simply got to do better, but I’m also not going to allow a person to have financial gain over my mistakes,” Hart said. “In this particular situation, that’s what was attempted, and I said I’d rather fess up to my mistakes.”

If you’re confused. You weren’t alone.

Not long after this video was posted, TMZ reported “a woman has allegedly demanded money from Kevin.” Accompanying this report was a grainy video of the star and a woman in “sexually suggestive” positions.

Fast forward a couple days and several TMZ reports and tips later, the identity of the woman is revealed. Montia Sabbag and her attorney Lisa Bloom held a press conference Wednesday to state that she is a victim in this situation and that she’s “not an extortionist.”

“I had nothing to do with these recordings,” said Sabbag. But a still shot from TMZ’s video footage might suggest otherwise.

However, law enforcement officials will not confirm or deny or who was demanding money from Kevin Hart. It could be Sabbag or it could be a third party. According to Bloom, “Montia and I are not asking for a cent from Kevin Hart. ” Bloom also denied that they are building a case against Hart.

“We are not making any claims against him. Kevin Hart appears to be the victim of this criminal, just as Montia is a victim of this criminal.”

Early this morning TMZ reported that law enforcement officials are just waiting on a judge to sign off on some warrants. Officials believe one of their warrant-targets is responsible for contacting Kevin Hart’s people and demanding the 8 figure compensation for keeping the tape a secret. According to the TMZ report, law enforcement thinks the video was shot on an iPhone, which is the main item they are interest in seizes with their warrant.
