NFL Confirms Justin Timberlake Will Perform Super Bowl Halftime Show

It has been 13 years since million sod Super Bowl viewers saw Janet Jackson uncensored in the infamous “nip slip” of 2004.

This famous impromptu peep show caused SO much of a commotion that Janet Jackson was disinvited to the Grammys in 2004. It also caused the FCC to enact the 5-second delay rule during live TV broadcast, a rule still active today.

Timberlake also did not attend the 2004 Grammys due to the racist and sexist allegations. He has since rehabilitated his career. Both parties have always sworn it to be an accident.

Here is the full show, or you can scrub to about 4:05.

We never thought we’d see Justin Timberlake perform at another Super Bowl after that. Unofficial reports surfaced earlier this year about Jay-Z being approached by the NFL to perform next year’s show. The reports also stated that Jay-Z turned down the invitation due to the kneeling controversy circling the NFL.

Now, start looking for flying pigs because the NFL has just confirmed that for the 2018 Pepsi Half Time Show, Justin Timberlake will take the stage.

Justin Timberlake hasn’t had an album release since the 20/20 experience in 2013. Last year, he did drop a summer bop, “Can’t Stop This Feeling” that is still receiving air play.

The NFL said in a press release, “Global superstar Justin Timberlake will headline the Pepsi Super Bowl LII Halftime Show on NBC at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minnesota on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, it was confirmed tonight.”

“The Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show is the most-watched musical event of the year. Last year’s show was the most-watched musical event of all-time across all platforms and the most-watched Super Bowl Halftime performance in history through broadcast and digital channels, reaching more than 150 million unique people, garnering more than 80 million views and totaling 260 million minutes watched.”
