One of the longest, mean-girl feuds might finally be at rest.
Taylor Swift was in Arizona gearing up with Charli XCX and Camila Cabello for the opening of the Reputation Stadium Tours start. It kicked off last night and the ladies brought down the house. Maybe it had top do with the little bit of unexpected love Swift received in her dressing room on location.
That’s right, Katy Perry sent Swift an olive branch. An actual olive branch. It included a handwritten note that in part read, “Hello Old Friend, been doing some reflecting on past miscommunications and hurt feelings between us.”
You can also see where part of the note says she “wants to clear the air,” and that she is “deeply sorry,” for something. The stationary featuring Perry’s puppy, covers up the rest of the note in classy fashion.
Swift greatly appreciated the gesture and immediately posted a video to Instagram where she said, “Thank you Katy, this means SO much.”
Their feud has been in the public eye since 2014. It came out in an interview Swift had with Rolling Stone. She was discussing her newest hit at the time, “Bad Blood,” which was rumored to be about a fellow celebrity and former friend. For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not,” Swift said. “She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?’ … She did something so horrible.” Swift talked about how it was weird to be so upset with someone and, “it wasn’t even about a guy! It had to do with business.” In the interview she goes deeper into the feud when she revealed, “She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me.”
Then after a series of tweets from Perry and the “Bad Blood” music video featuring Selena Gomez portraying a friend to Swift that stabs her in the back and becomes her enemy, the feud was on fire.
Later, Perry countered with the “Swish, Swish” video and befriending the members of another active Swift feud, Kim and Kayne West. About a year ago, during an episode of Carpool Karaoke with James Corden, Perry said, “What I want to say is that I’m ready for that BS to be done.” Here is the full segment.
But now it seems like these girls are ready to bury the hatchet (even though in a Swift song says she, ‘keeps maps of where she puts ’em’) and move on. These two ladies have done a lot of growing up over the last several years. If they can end their feud, anyone can… Maybe even Swift and Kanye?
