Model, Candice Swanepoel, Claps Back At Body Shammers Over Post-Baby Body Pics

The miracle of life changes everything. It doesn’t care if you’re a model. Candice Swanepoel, is no different as she slips into a bikini only 12 days postpartum.

Swanepoel got in a bikini for a family-fun day at the beach after giving birth to her second son, Ariel. She confidently rocked her mom-bod less than two weeks after one of the most traumatizing experiences a woman’s body goes through. Because she is one of the world’s top-paid models thanks to campaigns with Victoria Secret, photos were taken of her enjoying the day.

When they were released online, she instantly started getting flack for the way she looked.

“Society can be so cruel to one another. Beauty standards are sometimes impossible for women these days. I am not ashamed to show my post-partum tummy, I am proud actually.” The internet has made it so easy to “anonymously” tear people down. Candice posed the question, “Is it because I’m a model?”

Recently, former Celebrity Big Brother star, Casey Batchelor, posted a bikini photo of her “mum bod.” She was proud of it too and instantly people came to her praise for the way she looked post-baby.

Swanepoel followed up her question with, “Well, we are normal people too. Let me enjoy the beach in peace please.”

The 29-year old posted a follow-up photo that spoke about how ladies are all in the good fight together. She told her fans to not apologize for having a different body after creating life. She wants to normalize the amount of time needed to get your body back in whatever-order you want it in after giving birth. Too often women feel they are supposed to instantly shed pounds, when in reality, a little extra weight after pregnancy can help with breast feeding and healing your body.

She said, “I don’t have to hide my stomach just because people have unrealistic standards of women. We create life… What can you do?”

Preach, sister!

The South African model reminded everyone, “Ladies, we are all in this together, be kind to each other.”

“I carried my son for nine months in there, I think I’ve earned the right to have a little tummy,” said Swanepoel.
