To promote Tom Cruise’s new movie, “Mission Impossible: Fall Out,” he goes to literal new heights with the inexperienced James Corden.
The Late Late Show host, Corden, has never been skydiving, unlike Tom Cruise who is known around Hollywood for training to do his own stunts. In a segment for the show, the two go up in a plane and skydive in a remote part of the Californian desert.
Cruise has gone skydiving enough times that he didn’t need an instructor on his back. He’s done it several times in preparation for films like, “Mission Impossible.” In fact, Cruise injured himself doing some of the stunts during filming for the most recent installment of the franchise.
The duo went through a training session together, in which Corden attempts to run away from, and then they began the ascension.
From the segment video, you can tell Corden is genuinely nervous about the task at hand. At one point, it shows Cruise asleep on the loud plane and Corden just pale with fear as he contemplates his decision to try skydiving.
Once they reached jumping height, Corden needed a little push from his instructor after a slew of curse words involuntarily spout from his mouth looking out at the desert while in an opened plane. Corden and Danny, his instructor, go out belly first, while Cruise enthusiastically jumps out backwards.
In the end, it looked like Corden enjoyed the experience. Between the screams you can see smiles and laughter when Cruise swoops in to check on him.
Cruise continues to prove he is Hollywood’s most dedicated and enthusiastic actors as he skydives solo doing barrel rolls and other tricks. He landed flawlessly at a full run when he touched down. Corden, a little less graceful, literally bottomed out and tripped his instructor in the process sending them both tumbling in laughter.
