The all-female ensemble, Danity Kane has three members reuniting.

Members, Aubrey O’Day, Shannon Bex and Dawn Richard announced on Instagram that they are back together for a new era of DK music. The trio of ladies are calling themselves, “DK3.” The original group of five women, Danity Kane formed in 2005 thanks to the show, “Making the Band.” The formation went separate ways in 2009 due to increased tension. Five ladies enter the business and three remain.
In O’Day’s post she said, “Dawn • Dumblonde • DK3 new albums, new era, grown us. don’t miss it. Ticket link in bio. ”
In her caption she seems like she’s almost light heartedly joking about the 2014 almost-reunion. That’s right, O’Day, Bex and Richard already tried to reform 4 years ago. In that year, four of the five original ladies came together to do a reunion tour. On the first night of their tour, Aundrea Fimbres, announced she’d be leaving the group, leaving them as a trio. Soon after, Richard left the group due to a physical altercation with O’Day in the studio.
After that, Bex and O’Day continued to briefly make music, calling themselves “DumBlonde,” as mentioned in the caption. (Dawn + dumblonde = DK3?)
The new(ish)ly formed group told E!News that they will start their tour, The Universe Undefeated, September 7th in Stamford, Connecticut.
Many wonder what brought these ladies back after all these years and so many attempts to reunite. Could they mend the bridges that burned after the infamous in-studio fight? Richard thinks so! She told E!News, “The conversations started because I think Aubrey and I wanted to touch base cause we hadn’t in a long time and I think we both, ya know, had feelings of feeling like we needed to have that conversation.”
Turns out, both of the ladies wanted nothing more than a sisterhood again. “We’re sisters at the end of the day and I think if you go through life you still remember like I really want a relationship with these girls even though you go through things, you really want that comradery and so Aubrey and I had a great conversation,” Richard continued to say.
O’Day said, “We have been through a journey of a lot of ups and downs. But on any journey, you know, it requires the people involved to not be willing to let go of each other and that’s what we’re on so, we’re super grateful to be back in each other’s lives.” She also mentioned that they are more career centered than they ever were before. They are using that momentum and all their ups and downs to fuel their songwriting.
Tickets are on sale now for their tour’s initial start. Tickets soon go on sale for their show in Detroit. Link with more info HERE.
