Carrie Underwood Reveals Baby’s Gender During CMA Awards

At the 52nd Annual Country Music Association Awards, Carrie Underwood slips and reveals the baby’s gender in a monologue with Brad Paisley.

Underwood, expecting baby number two,  co-hosted this year’s CMA Awards once again with country singer and longtime friends, Brad Paisley.

During their monologue together, Paisley coaxing Underwood into telling him the baby’s gender. She stands strong at first saying her lips are sealed. “Seriously, Carrie, give me a baby hint,” that’s when Paisley begins listing names that would be traditionally girl or boy names. After he rattles off the list, Underwood reluctantly says, “Oh, my gosh, Willie, it’s a Willie!”

A smiling Paisley jokes, “Carrie blew it! Trending worldwide! Way bigger than when I did it, and worse,” referencing to the hashtag “BradBlewIt.” This was trending after Paisley “accidentally” revealed her first baby’s gender at the 2014 CMA Awards.

In 2014, they were also co-hosting the awards, (they have actually done this 11 times together,) and during their opening monologue, the reveal happened. Paisley asks if her what the gender is and promises to not tell anyone.  She leans in and whispers something in his ear. A huge smile appears on his face and he excitedly says, “We could name him Garth!”

“What are you doing? What is wrong with you?” she harped.

During last night’s awards, Paisley teased Underwood about her husband, Mike Fisher, and suggested he could not be the father. Underwood reassuringly replied, “I like Mike’s chances.”

“We are just so excited and just so glad that you guys can share in this with us and be a part of this with us. I love you guys. We’ll see you on the road in 2019,” said Underwood. Her bun in the oven won’t be affecting her upcoming tour, Cry Pretty 360, which is  set to take off in May of 2019.  She announced she was expecting baby #2 in August. We expect the “Willie’s” arrival in January or February.
