Patricia Arquette and Joey King star in the first season of the new anthology Hulu series, ‘The Act.’

Fans of true crime have been anxiously awaiting the premier of the first look at the story of a girl, Gypsy Rose Blanchard, that brutally murdered her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard in 2015.
Arquette and King are bringing the drama in the first season of, ‘The Act,’ breathing life into this complicated tale of a mother who suffers from Munchausen Syndrome by proxy. Munchausen is a disease that makes people want to go to the hospital. They injur themselves, try to convince doctors they are sick, and in extreme cases, figure out ways to makes themselves actually sick so they will be admitted into care. In a case of Munchausen Syndrome by proxy, the person suffering from thr disease doesn’t necessarily want to put themselves in the hospital, but rather, someone they care about. Gypsy Blanchard spent most of her life being carted around from doctor to doctor being admitted in and out of care. She was constantly sick and no one could be sure why…
In the trailer, you can see how eerily similar Arquette and King look to the real Blanchard’s. The costuming, the body language, their voices, everything made to correctly represent the story, King even shaved her head for filming.
It only took a 30 second trailer to completely captivate the audience. King once said, “This story is very disturbing and I am honored to be able to portray it.”
Currently, Gypsy is serving 10 years for first degree murder, and after watching, ‘The Act,’ you’ll see why it wasn’t longer.
Catch the first season of ‘The Act’ on Hulu, March 20th.
