Jason Momoa Shaved For the 1st Time In Seven Years (For a Good Cause!)

If you were a fan of Jason Momoa’s beard, I have some bad news for you: Your man no longer looks like this…

For the first time since 2012, the “Aquaman” star trimmed his whiskers. This wasn’t a spur of the moment decision, though! Momoa wanted to help raise awareness for aluminum recycling over plastic usage. For good reason: aluminum can be recycled infinitely and saves around 95% of the energy needed to make the metal from raw materials.  Khal Drogo felt so strongly about this that he thought changing his iconic look would help get people’s attention — and he was obviously right.

While walking through a bunch of trash in the desert (probably on location filming for his role in the upcoming remake for “Dune”), Momoa took to Instagram with a short video on why his beard went bye-bye. “I just want to do this to bring awareness that plastics are killing our planet,” he explained over the buzz of the electric razor. As he bid farewell to his old bearded roles in a longer video on YouTube, Momoa urged for everyone to make the switch to aluminum for the sake of our children and our planet.

And in case you were worried that Arthur Curry suffered from the baby face syndrome some guys have to deal with after they shave, rest assured that Jason Momoa is just as hunky as he ever was. It’s just now his handsome face is more in line with his boyish charm!
