Canada’s Conservative party said a man revealed to have been caught on camera urinating into a customer’s coffee mug in 2012 “is no longer a candidate.” Jerry Bance, who had been running as a Conservative, was found to be the same “Jerry” seen in security footage that aired as part of A CBC investigative series in 2012. The footage showed Bance, who was working as a home repair technician, urinate into a customer’s coffee cup before dumping the liquid into the kitchen sink he was supposed to be repairing. The hidden cameras were planted as part of aN exposé on repairmen overcharging customers for simple repairs. Conservative spokesman Stephen Lecce said that Bance “is no longer a candidate.” Bance, whose scandal was dubbed “#peegate” on social media, said in a statement Sunday “the footage from that day does not reflect who I am as a professional or a person. I deeply regret my actions on that day.”
Kansas State University apologized for a marching band routine that some complained looked like male genitalia assaulting the University of Kansas mascot. University officials said the formation during halftime of Saturday’s season opener against South Dakota was supposed to depict the Starship Enterprise from Star Trek engaged in battle with the University of Kansas Jayhawk, but some social media users complained the Enterprise shape looked more like a set of male genitals. A message on the marching band’s official Twitter account later read, “We apologize for anyone offended by our halftime performance depicting the starship enterprise and the Jayhawk mascot.” Kansas State president Kirk Shultz tweeted he was “sorry if anyone was offended by the performance at half-time.”
