An Illinois job applicant texted his way out of an offered position when he accidentally sent the human resources manager a nude selfie. The human resources manager at a company contacted authorities to report receiving two nude pictures via text message from a man who had been offered a position with the company. The company learned the identity of the sender when he later used the same phone number for a follow-up call. Police said the man who sent the pictures told investigators the nude selfies were sent accidentally. A police rep says, “Police contacted the offender who admitted to sending the photographs, explaining they were actually meant for another individual and were sent to the victim in error. “Police advised the offender to cease any contact with the victim.” The victim decided not to press charges, but police said the man’s actions were not free from consequences, as the job offer was rescinded.

A California surfer attacked by a great white shark escaped the encounter without injury — but her board wasn’t quite so lucky. Elinor Dempsey was surfing when the shark bit a chunk out of her board, leaving a 14-inch-wide bite mark. She said, “I was sitting on my board relaxing. I saw a large object, it was the color of a dolphin. It bit my board, and I realized it wasn’t a dolphin… and I just turned around and just started swimming.” Other surfers helped Dempsey recover her board and head for shore. Wildlife officials said the shark, which Dempsey estimated to be 7 or 8 feet long, was likely a juvenile great white shark. Dempsey said she was “in shock,” but the shark attack wasn’t the worst part of her day….she didn’t get any good waves.
