Movie pirates aren’t usually remorseful about their bootlegging, but one group would like to repent. The Hive-CM8 team has apologized to Quentin Tarantino for posting The Hateful Eight before it had even surfaced in theaters, claiming that it feels “sorry” for the trouble it created by spoiling the release. Supposedly, they just wanted to share the movie with people who are “not rich enough” to see the Western in theaters, and held the release back for a week to give the official release a “fighting chance.” Aw, how kind! The team also maintains that it got the release “from a guy on the street,” not through a hack, and that you should still pay for the movie to support its creators. In fact, Hive-CM8 makes the common argument that the piracy can actually help ticket sales, since it’d generate buzz that leads people to watch.
An Air India plane flying to London was forced to return to Mumbai after passengers spotted a rat on board. Although the rat was not found, the pilot returned to Mumbai yesterday with passenger safety in mind. Passengers were later flown by a separate aircraft to London. The original aircraft would be fumigated and checked before it is returned to service. Maintenance workers would have to ensure the rat did not damage equipment or chew any wires and the plane is certified to be rodent-free, an airline official said. India’s cash-strapped national carrier had two other mishaps the same day. A pilot aborted takeoff from a northern Indian city after a stray dog ran onto the runway as the plane was taxiing, and another plane from Mumbai was hit by a catering van at Newark, New Jersey, airport in the US. Two weeks ago, an Air India technician was sucked into an aircraft engine and killed at Mumbai airport in what aviation experts described as a “freak accident”.
