THE BUZZ 1/15/16

Nobody does revenge like J.K. Rowling—and no one knows that better than the man who narrated the Harry Potter audiobooks. Stephen Fry can probably be forgiven for not realizing that the audiobook he was recording back in the day was in the process of becoming a major cultural phenomenon. But when he met Rowling for the first time, all he knew was that she was a children’s author whose first book had sold well enough to merit a sequel. “Good for you,” Fry condescendingly told Rowling—or so he’s reportedly claimed in his latest comedy show. But Rowling knew how to hold a grudge—and years later she made her point over, and over, and over again every time she wrote a new Harry Potter book. While recording for Prisoner of Azkaban, Fry had difficulty reading the line “Harry pocketed it.” Calling Rowling, he asked if he could rephrase the line. Not only did she refuse and abruptly hang up, but the line appeared in the next four books…all of which had audio versions recorded by none other than Fry himself.

Nick Carter was arrested in Florida on Wednesday night. According to an eyewitness on the scene, cops took Nick into custody down in Key West at the Hog’s Breath Saloon — a pretty famous bar in the area. Carter was involved in some kind of scuffle inside the bar, and eventually the cops showed up and busted the Backstreet Boy. He was arrested at 8:13 PM and booked for misdemeanor battery. Interestingly, arrest docs list Nick’s occupation as “None.” Either he was really humble during his arrest … or the Key West officers just aren’t Backstreet Boy fans.

Adam Lambert really loves rock and roll, so he joins the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Lambert has joined Fox’s Rocky Horror Picture Show remake as Eddie, the rocking former delivery boy who crashes Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s party. The part was originally played by Meat Loaf and Fox went with the best voice to come out of American Idol to ensure that when Eddie’s motorcycle crashes through that wall it’s going to be pretty darn awesome. Lambert joins quite the cast for this remake, Laverne Cox as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Victoria Justice as Janet, Ryan McCartan as Brad, Reeve Carney as Riff-Raff and Staz Nair as Rocky. The two-hour TV event, which will air sometime this fall, is described as a “reimagining” of the 1975 film, in honor of the movie’s 40th anniversary.
