Administrator Bill Kauffman, U.S. Senator Gary Peters

The final State of the County address was given this Friday afternoon by outgoing County Administrator Bill Kauffman. After five years as Administrator and 26 total years with the county Kauffman told the packed audience at Alexander’s in Marysville that he will have fond memories of his work. Kauffman told us afterwards that the preparing the speech was bittersweet. Kauffman says as for advice to the next Administrator he suggests showing respect to department heads and to not be afraid to let them run things. Of concern in the future Kauffman told the audience that reducing poverty and getting the county more on the destination map would be most beneficial. The annual local chamber sponsored event also featured U.S. Senator Gary Peters as a guest speaker with opening comments from Marysville Mayor Dan Damman. The presentation can be heard on the weekly public affairs program “Blue Water Beat” Sunday morning and on the WPHM podcast site at wphm.net.
