Board of Directors of the Blue Water Area Chamber of Commerce are sending a message out that they support the bond asking being offered up next month by the Port Huron Area School District. Thelma Castillo is the chamber’s President and CEO and although the chamber represents businesses and industry outside of the district boundaries she believes what could be good for the district would be good for the area. A variety of infrastructure, safety, and security items would be improved or replaced if the issues are passed. The core asking is for 126-million while a secondary bond proposal is at just over 27-million. If approved the total school millage take for local taxpayers would only rise to about the middle of the pack for all St. Clair County based schools. The vote comes up on May 3rd.
