With the cold weather hopefully behind us, many will be out at the Great Lakes Maritime Center or at many vantage points along the St. Clair River to watch the freighters. A favorite read of boat watchers over the years has been “Know Your Ships”, a book released annually that highlights the many ships on the Great Lakes. Author Roger Lelievre tells us this year’s cover photo features a favorite of boat watchers “The Arthur M. Anderson”; which went back out to search for survivors of the Edmund Fitzgerald on November 10th, 1975. There’s lots of new pictures for 2016, as well as some vessels missing due to being scrapped.Lelievre began working on the book 11 year ago out of the trunk of his car. He’ll be signing copies of this years edition this Saturday at the Maritime Center in Port Huron from 10-3pm.
