THE BUZZ 7/27/16

Pokemon Go players have been caught glued to their phones during funerals, weddings and at the birth of their child. And now one gamer has committed the ultimate sin – shunning Beyonce live in concert for some virtual action instead. The young woman was called out by a fellow spectator at the Beyonce concert in Paris last Thursday, who was flabbergasted by her apparent ‘lack of respect’. Despite paying hundreds of pounds for her front row ticket, the young woman seemed more interested in her phone screen than what was happening in front of her. Anand Desai-Barochia filmed the Pokemon Go player and uploaded the footage to Instagram.  Footage shows her fixed to her phone, while the rest of the crowd are having the time of their lives around her. The unnamed woman can’t even bring herself to look up as Beyonce starts singing and walking just meters away. In the short clip, Anand is heard shouting in disbelief: ‘She’s playing Pokemon when Beyonce is singing. Look at where she is, she’s next to the stage!’ To date the video – which is captioned ‘she’s lucky Solange never saw her’ – has been watched more than 40,000 times. Pokemon Go? Though it ended in 2012, the world is still obsessed with Gossip Girl, which launched the careers of Blake Lively, Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick and gave the TV world some of its most iconic couples (Chuck and Blair). Given our recent nostalgia obsession, with revivals of Full House, Gilmore Girls and Boy Meets World nearly breaking the Internet, it wouldn’t be too crazy for us to consider hailing a cab back to the Upper East Side, right? Executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage said they haven’t really explored some of those conversations. Schwartz said, “Maybe, I don’t know. We haven’t really thought about it.” However, Schwartz said “the Internet has changed” so much that it would be interesting to see Gossip Girl in the era of Snapchat, Instagram and other current social media apps. So while there are no plans to reboot or revive Gossip Girl, there is one star who would be down to reprise their role: Sebastian Stan (Dan Humphrey) said, “I would do it, why not?” He also revealed two of his former co-stars that would also be interested in returning to GG. “I got Jessica Szohr (Vanessa Abrams) and Chace Crawford (Nate Archibald),” he said. “I don’t know what the rest are up to, but I’d be down. Why not?”

Over the weekend, Justin Timberlake traveled to Lake Tahoe for the 27th annual American Century Golf Championship. After allegedly becoming belligerent, cops arrested him for disorderly conduct.Ultimately, J.T. was still able to have plenty of fun during the weekend.
