The Washington Capitals won their 11th straight home game, beating the Red Wings 6-3 on Thursday night. Andreas Athanasiou had two goals for the Wings, both set up by Thomas Vanek. Henrik Zetterberg had the other goal for the Wings, who fell back into last place in the Eastern Conference, and six points out of a playoff spot. Detroit plays at Columbus on Saturday.
