Yes, I’m satisfied with my long distance plan.
Who hasn’t pretended a banana was a phone as a kid? Heck, I did it this morning. And now you can have an actual functioning Banana Phone!
An Indiegogo campaign is currently underway for the fruit-shaped phone. It can be pre-ordered for $40, and works by connecting to your smartphone via Bluetooth and sends your calls to the Banana Phone. According to the campaign page, the phone will be able to send and receive calls, feature 10 hours of talk time, have access to Siri for the iPhone users, and have a built-in rechargeable lithium battery. Also, it won’t turn brown and mushy like those other banana phones you’ve had in the past!
You might be asking yourself the same question I did when I found out about this: why would I answer a phone connected to my cell if I can just answer my cell? Well, on top of it just plain being more fun, the pages explains it best: “We strive to inspire people to TALK more, SMILE more, and SAVE endangered Mountain Gorillas through conservation. 1% of all sales goes directly to our partner, Gearing Up 4 Gorillas, to help rescue one of our closest relatives in the animal kingdom.” That’s a non-profit organization that works towards the protection of mountains gorilla by providing funding and equipment to the rangers who protect them. Maybe a little late for all the Harambe buzz, but still a very noble cause.

The Indiegogo page has just over two weeks to reach their goal, but at 89% of funds raised from 399 backers, you have to believe that you’ll start seeing people talk into fruit on a more regular basis! The Banana Phone should be available by September 2017. If you want to throw some money at this, you can find the Indiegogo page here.
