The Detroit Tigers held of Kansas City 6-5 on Wednesday night, to take two out of three in their series with the Royals. Warwick Saupold earned the victory with three scoreless innings of relief. Alex Avila and Victor Martinez each hit a home run, while JD Martinez and Justin Upton each hit two run doubles for the Tigers. Thursday is a day off for Detroit, who will open a six game home stand on Friday against the Chicago White Sox at Comerica Park.
