Get a Vial of Melted Ice From the Joe Louis Arena

There’s a reason why they call it Hockey Town! The Detroit Red Wings have a special place in the hearts of many fans, and the same goes for their former home for the past 38 years. But with the end of this past season came the end to Joe Louis Arena. After four Stanley Cup Championships and over 600 concerts and events, you’ll be hard pressed to find anyone who wouldn’t agree that this is the end of an era. But as the Wings get ready to start the 2017-2018 season in their new home at Little Caesar’s Arena, you can still get a memento of days past!

The Detroit Red Wings announced via twitter that vials of melted ice that the Red Wings skated on during the “Farewell Season at The Joe” are on sale. Considered a steal at $85 which includes shipping, the are packaged in a 6-inch by 8-inch commemorative shadowbox framed photo of the “Farewell to The Joe Ceremony” that happened after the final game at the arena back on April 9th.

Money raised from the sales will go to the Detroit Red Wings Foundation which provides funds and resources to worthy causes that contribute to the growth of the sport of hockey. So there’s a bit of a silver lining in the legendary Joe Louis Arena being demolished, with its site slated for redevelopment. If you’re one of the many who have had fond times at 19 Steve Yzerman Dr in Detroit, you can help its memory live on! But you’ll want to act fast because only 3,000 of these vials are available, and since people can purchase up to ten at a time, you know they won’t last long!
