“Tonight Show” Tapings Cancelled Through Friday As Fallon Mourns Mother

The “Tonight Show”  host, Jimmy Fallon, is grieving the loss of his mother, Gloria Fallon, 68, who passed away peacefully over the weekend.

A spokesperson for Fallon said in a press statement, “Jimmy was at his mother’s bedside, along with her loved ones, when she passed away at NYU Langone Medical Center in NYC. Our prayers go out to Jimmy and his family as they go through this tough time.”

“On behalf of everyone at NBC, we extend our deepest condolences to Jimmy and all his family at this time of enormous loss,” said NBC in a statement. “Our hearts go out to Jimmy and everyone else whose lives were so touched by Gloria Fallon’s love, kindness and support.”

Fallon and his mother were very close. She was his “biggest fan.” The night time host doesn’t often talk about his personal life on the show or even on social media, but back in May he did tweet this sentiment.

The “Tonight Show” has decided to cancel this week’s tapings (Through Nov. 10th.) They will run reruns until Fallon’s return, as the whole show mourns the loss of Gloria. She and Fallon’s dad, Jim Sr. were actually at the very first taping of the “Tonight Show.”

In an interview with the TODAY show to promo his newest children’s book, “Everything is Mama,” he said his first word was actually, “mama.”

At the time it’s unclear what her cause of death was. Someone close to the family says she had been sick and in the hospital when the November 3rd episode was cancelled on Friday, the evening before she passed.

On behalf of everyone here at 96.9 WBTI, we extend our condolences. Moms are the best cheerleaders. We send our sympathies to the Fallon family, cast and crew of the “Tonight Show” and all whose lives were touched by Gloria Fallon.
