Local maritime master Jim Clary passes

Maritime artist and historian Jim Clary, owner of Cap’n Jim’s art gallery in St. Clair has passed. Clary’s artwork depicted Great Lakes Freighters, military vessels, and even the Titanic. He was the chosen historian and artist for the 1983 Titanic search, and wrote several books on maritime history, including The Last True Story of Titanic, The 1913 Storms, and Ladies of the Lake. Clary was also know for his charitable work, as he would paint a picture every holiday season to benefit numerous charities. Funeral services for Jim Clary have not yet been announced.
