The details in the nature of her overdose have not yet been released. She remained in Cedar Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles for the last two weeks following complications with her overdose. Those complications include high fever and vomiting. In the days that followed her publicist said that she was, “awake and with family.” Her family and ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama stayed at her side during her hospital stay. A source noted that she planned to, “head straight to rehab” once hospital recovery was complete.

Her statement said, ” I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet.”

The singer has been open about her struggle with addiction. Last year she released a documentary with YouTube covering her abuse of alcohol and cocaine. After celebrating six years of sobriety she relapsed and released the song, “Sober,” on June 21st. Sources say the song was released not only to inform her fans and remain transparent, but also to hold herself accountable. Her overdose occurred less than a month later.

She thanked God, friends, family and the staff at Cedar Sinai for keeping her alive so that she has another chance to fix her life. She finished her note with, “The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side. I will keep fighting.”

The outpour of love continued in the comments section of this post from fans and celebrity friends alike.

Paris Hilton who was featured in her, “Sorry Not Sorry” music video wrote, “Love you so much sis.” While Jennifer Lopez said, “Oh baby… Sending love.”

Rapper Mac Miller used personal experience to level with Lovato and said, “Sending love Demi. I’ve relapsed many times. The recovery community has always welcomed me back with infinite love and support. Always here for you. One day at a time.”

We wish her a speedy recovery and welcome her return to music when she is healthy and ready.
