Republican and Democratic slates set

After a weekend convention, Michigan republicans and democrats will begin crossing the state campaigning for the November primary. Democratic candidate for Governor Gretchen Whitmer and her running mate Garlin Gilchrist will be holding a rally in Detroit this afternoon. Former candidate Abdul El-Sayed and Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan will be speaking. Over the weekend, the Democratic party finalized their ticket with Dana Nessel running for Attorney General and Jocelyn Benson running for Secretary of State. On the GOP side, republican Bill Schuette and Lisa Posthumus Lyons are beginning their “Results Not Resistance” bus tour. Michigan Republicans also finalized their slate, choosing  House Speaker Tom Leonard as their nominee for attorney general and and Secretary of State nominee Mary Treder Lang.
