Main character in the Caroline Kepnes’ books turned Lifetime series (made widely popular by Netflix,) Joe Goldberg, finds a new love interest in the next season of ‘You.’ He’s just gotten away with a couple of murders and is taking an opportunity for a fresh start in Los Angelas.
The first season stuck closely to the book until the big twist at the end where (lots of spoilers ahead if you haven’t finished season 1 yet) his presumed-dead first love, Candace, turns out to be alive and well. While season 2 will still be based off Kepnes’ books, it looks like that twist could bring readers of the original novels many surprises as the show continues.
Here are a couple things we know about the upcoming season.
Joe Moves to Los Angeles
Season two is set in the city of broken dreams and more girls who seem to be clueless about their stalker. Goldberg loves New York, he’s going to be a real fish out of water in LA. Will the work to his disadvantage with stalking or will he be able to play the ‘out-of-towner’ card to get his new love interested to play into his hand?
Executive Producer for ‘You,’ Sere Gamble told TVLive, “I’ve lived here [LA] since I was 16, and one of the classic truisms about living in LA is that you’re surrounded by former New Yorkers who f–ing hate it here. So we started the writers’ room for Season 2 by being like, “Joe moves to LA and he completely hates it. Let’s talk about how much fun that is.”

A New Love Interest with an Interesting Name
Guinevere Beck is now…. unavailable. Joe Goldberg now has is sights set on a new target, Love Quinn. She will be portrayed by Victoria Pedretti who recently started in Netflix’s ‘Haunting of Hill House”
Love Quinn, (will she go by just Quinn like Beck?) is an aspiring chef who currently works as a produce manager at an upscale grocer. She’s unattached from social media and instead, prefers to live life in the moment. When she meets Goldberg, she is grieving and can see that he has seen much loss too.
Joe Gets Conned by a New Character
Jenna Ortega from Disney’s ‘Stuck in the Middle” is a new street-wise character and con-artist, Ellie.
She acts older than she is and is a pro at scamming everyone, even Goldberg himself. She grew up in LA with no supervision and is willing to do whatever is necessary for quick cash.
Love Quinn Has a Brother
James Scully, fresh off his run with the reboot of Heathers will portray Love Quinn’s brother, Forty.
He uses much of his sister’s attention (which will clearly be an obstacle for Joe Goldberg) to get him through his 12-step program. He’s confident and opinionated. You can already see he will be running interference with his sister’s new relationship.
Candace
Candace is alive!
In a twist of events she makes an appearance at the end of season one and was promoted to a series regular for the next season. Gamble hasn’t revealed if Candace followed her former love to LA or if she’s there by coincidence. Gamble did say to THR that there will be, “bigger stuff,” this season to torment Goldberg, will it be Candace or a different pat of his past that makes a big return? So many lose ends were left when he fled to LA. Peach’s parents hired an investigator to handle their daughter’s case and let’s not forget Dr. Nicky is admantly protesting his arrest and involvement in murder.
In the same interview, Gamble said, “He thinks he really understands women. He thinks that he is such an incredible ally,” she continued. “I think that can be one of the most dangerous positions of all when you’re entitled and when you’re not entirely self-aware about why you do the things that you do… So I don’t know, we’re having a lot of fun being subversive with the story, and that will continue.”
Goldberg is sure to be in for wild ride in season 2 of, ‘You.’
