One injured, horse euthanized after Sanilac County crash

A woman was injured after her vehicle struck a horse earlier this week in rural Sanilac County. According to the Sanilac County Sheriff’s office, 34 year old Erin Lipka was traveling south on Maple Valley Road north of West Peck Road Monday afternoon when a horse that had gotten loose ran in front of her vehicle. Authorities say Lipka was unable to stop her vehicle in time and hit the horse in the front center of the vehicle. She was taken to a Lapeer Area hospital for treatment. Further investigations determined the horse was was tied up outside of the Yoder General Store nearby and had broke free. The horse was euthanized by it’s owner.
