Alcohol suspected in Sanilac County motorcycle crash

A motorcyclist is recovering after what is believed to be an alcohol-involved crash in Sanilac County’s Washington Township early Monday morning. According to the Sanilac County Sheriff’s office, a motorcycle driven by a 57 year old Marlette man was traveling east on M-46 near Church Road around 1am when he is believed to have struck a temporary road barricade, leaving the roadway. A passerby on M-46 noticed the downed motorcyclist and called authorities. He was taken to a Sandusky area hospital and later airlifted to a Flint hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash and the man was not wearing a helmet name of the motorcyclist is being withheld at this time.
