Some Michigan lawmakers are coordinating a rally in support of having a new psychiatric facility built in Tuscola County. The two-hour rally starts at 11 a.m. today at the Michigan State Capitol lawn in Lansing. Efforts are underway to get as many people as possible there to send a message to Governor Gretchen Whitmer and other state officials of the need to keep the 200-bed, psychiatric facility in Caro. The state recently recommended an 84-bed facility in Caro — as opposed to a new 200-bed facility that was originally proposed. It was estimated doing renovations to existing facilities would be about $30-55 million less than spending $115 million to build a new hospital in Caro.
