COVID-19 cases increase statewide, locally

The number of COVID-19 cases in St. Clair County increased by 21 Thursday. The St. Clair County Health Department is reporting now 322 confirmed positive cases in the county. About two-thirds of those people, 212 to be exact, have recovered from the virus. The number of fatalities in St. Clair County held steady Thursday at 18. The majority of cases, about 42% of them, are individuals ages 50 to 69. Currently 77 county residents have been hospitalized, accounting for about 7% of current hospital capacity.

An additional death has been reported in Sanilac County. Health officials t here say there are now 34 positive individuals and four attributable deaths. There are now 159 cases and 23 deaths in Lapeer county, that’s an increase of five cases and one fatality. The statewide COVID-19 count climbed to nearly 35,300 people Thursday. Almost 3,000 Michiganders have died from the virus.
