Two rescued from Lake Huron near Port Sanilac

The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Department Marine Division rescued two boaters from the waters of Lake Huron yesterday afternoon. A marine deputy stationed in Port Sanilac spotted a vessel in distress northeast of the Harbor around 3:30pm Thursday. The deputy responded to the vessel’s location and pulled an unresponsive woman from the water, identified as a 28 year old from Monroe. She was taken to a Sandusky Hospital and later transferred to a Saginaw area hospital and is said to be in stable condition. A 33 year old man from Detroit was also assisted out of the waters by Sheriff’s deputies. He was taken to a Port Huron area hospital and later released. The distressed vessel is described as a 1991 Sunbird 17 foot pleasure craft, it is unknown at this time what may have caused the incident.
